If you missed our last post, we exposed how Google’s AI Overviews use your content without credit or clicks. Now, we go a step further: how to fight back.

Google’s AI Overviews and other AI search tools claim to “save time.” But what they’re really doing is summarizing your work — your blogs, product descriptions, FAQs — and giving users answers without sending you the traffic. If you run a Jamaican online store or content site, this is more than a nuisance. It’s an existential threat.
Local stores, creators, and bloggers in Jamaica (and globally) are being pushed down search results. AI scrapes their answers, strips their links, and presents them as “summary knowledge.” The reward? Nothing. No credit. No backlinks. No check.
AI Overviews aren’t neutral. They redirect value from those who create to those who control the platform.
Start optimizing for searches like “ShopSalesJA gift cards” or “ShopSalesJA SEO tools.” AI can't summarize branded intent — it still sends users to named sources.
Add meta name="robots" content="noai, noimageai"
in your HTML header. It’s not foolproof, but it signals to scrapers you don’t give consent.
Use structured data, watermark your images, and list your authorship. Let Google know who made the content. (You!)
Facebook Groups. WhatsApp Broadcast Lists. Email updates. These are channels AI cannot crawl — but customers love.

This isn’t just about SEO anymore — it’s about ownership. You built your content. You earned your readers. You deserve the credit.
Google won’t send that traffic back voluntarily. But with smarter tactics and stronger community, you can take it back yourself.

A: AI Overviews reduce traffic by summarizing content directly on Google, lowering clicks to original sources.
A: Partially. You can add metadata like noai
and protect content behind login walls or PDFs.
A: Build brand keywords, focus on email lists, and create content that AI can’t summarize or access.
